Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: a little Christmas nugget to watch without moderation.
Among the great Christmas classics, there are dozens of essentials, but two always catch our attention: Mom, I Missed the Plane by Chris Columbus and Love Actually by Richard Curtis. And it is precisely this second comedy that we are talking about today!
Released in 2003, this feature film with an incredibly attractive cast takes place on Christmas Eve in London. It is here, in the heart of the capital of the United Kingdom, that lives and loves will intersect, brush against each other and confront each other, proving that the most beautiful things can also give rise to the worst situations.
In the casting of Love Actuallywe find a host of excellent British actors: Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Keira Knightley, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Bill Nighy, Alan Rickman, and Andrew Lincoln. A casting that makes you dizzy and it doesn’t stop there…
“Let’s gorge ourselves on love until we die”
All these renowned actors from Love Actually have continued, for twenty-one years, to captivate the hearts of spectators, to the point that it has become unimaginable for some not to watch this film during the end-of-year holidays.
Among the most cult scenes of this Christmas comedy, there is the wild dance of Hugh Grant, aka the Prime Minister, in his residence at 10 Downing Street, to the tube Jump of the Pointer Sisters. Or Mark’s magnificent declaration of love to Juliet. A scene that the actress found extremely embarrassing during filming.
In addition to these many cult moments, we keep in mind the emblematic music of this irresistible romance: Christmas Is All Around (which means “Christmas is everywhere”) by Billy Mack, brilliantly performed by Bill Nighy and its dancers.
As many characters as exceptional scenes, which make Love Actually a pure Christmas gem, and one of the best romantic comedies ever made. The proof with this excellent rating that AlloCiné Internet users gave it: 3.8 out of 5!
Tonight on TF1 at 9:10 p.m.
