“Choke!” »: for singer Yseult, the French do not deserve her

Last September, the young singer Yseult released her second album entitled Mental. An opus made up of thirteen titles which is struggling to find its audience. Something that the 30-year-old young woman, awarded a Victory for Female Revelation for her single Corpsin 2021, has a lot of difficulty accepting.

On her X account, the one that Le Figaro described as a “ permanently offended » did not fail to make this known, with the finesse and moderation that characterize her. On December 16, she wrote in capital letters: “ Mental is one of the best projects released in this year. Those who disagree, choke! » A few hours later, she continued with an even more poetic message: “ Mental is the best fr project of this year. Those who disagree, masturbate! » All accompanied by photographs of her giving the fingers. It couldn’t be more charming!

Vulgarity

The kind of intervention that makes you want to rush to Spotify or Deezer to listen to his songs. Yseult undoubtedly has a great sense of marketing. She proved it again during the promotion of her future tour, on the set of C to youon France 5December 18. During her show, host Anne-Élisabeth Lemoine returns to the messages posted by the singer on social networks about the failure of her album: “ Are you disappointed, a little, with the reception he received in France? And when I say disappointed, that’s an understatement, Yseult, are you almost angry? » The singer takes offense: “ No way ! » The best is yet to come.

Yseult launches into a tirade, all in modesty: “ I said that my project is one of the best French albums released in 2024, who will say the opposite? » She continues: “ I’m not forcing anyone to go listen to it, but I’m simply telling the truth, because it’s a project that is close to my heart and which is just wonderful. » The young woman is surprised that her album was very well received in the United States but not in France.

The French are not receptive to his art. Listening to the words of Gasolineone of the titles of the opus, isn’t that reassuring? : “ You’re still on my cock; Your two feet on my ribs; On all fours on the floor; Rodeo on my sex toy […] Your daron is a dog, dale; Your daron wants it dirty, dale Your daron is on a leash, dale… » For her part, Yseult wonders: “ I asked myself if France really deserves the power, the heart and the love that I give on stage. » The question is, in fact, worth asking: does France deserve Yseult? The country that allowed it to flourish and make a name for itself, notably via the tele-hook New Stardoes he deserve to be treated like this? Does the nation that awarded him a Victoire de la Musique deserve to be lectured as soon as the trophy is awarded: “ It’s not over, the road is long as a black woman. The road is long as a fat woman, as a woman forgotten by society, forgotten by culture. […] We are here, we are fighting. Our anger is legitimate and I would like this evening, all of France to hear it » ? Is France, which offered to close the 2024 Olympic Games ceremony in mondovision, really guilty of something towards Yseult, if not for its success? Why does the singer victimize herself in this way and blame her failures on those who helped her?

Ingratitude

Yseult is not the only one. Like her, many personalities who owe a lot to the Land of Enlightenment ended up rejecting it. Like Karim Benzema. The player who trained at Olympique Lyonnais and was widely applauded in the blue jersey ended up accusing part of France of being “ racist “. Same thing, or almost, for Yannick Noah, the winner of Roland-Garros in 1983. For his part, in 2019, Mathieu Kassovitz said he was no longer proud of being French, without however considering returning his Césars or shooting a line on the French subsidies which allow him to make a living from his art. The list is long, very long. As Yseult says so well, France does not deserve such ingrates.
