“identity card”, more transparency, opportunities… What’s new on the platform

Since Wednesday, December 18, 2024, future high school graduates have access to the map of the 24,000 higher education courses listed on Parcoursup. Six years after its creation, the site continues to evolve. This year he is proposing three short stories features in order to best support future students in their choice of training.

The first novelty concerns the presentation of the training. She now has his “identity card” in order to more easily identify essential information. This “identity card” details the characteristics of the training: the status of the establishment, its selective nature or not, the number of places available, the holding of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research label and the eligibility for scholarships.

It comes with a practical booklet, the “good reflexes” bookletdeveloped by parents and higher education stakeholders. His goal? “Help high school students and their parents to better understand the training offerings and to ask the right questions before choosing a course,” explains the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

Greater transparency in selection

Since its creation, Parcoursup has received numerous criticisms regarding the lack of transparency around the training selection criteria. This year, the “Training” sheet has been enriched with two new sections. There is now an “Understand the criteria for analyzing applications” tab which allows you toaccess the report on the examination of applications from the previous session.

Then, with the “View training access figures” section, candidates will be able for the first time estimate their real chances of being retained in training. Depending on their profile, that is to say their type of baccalaureate, their specialties and their general average, they will be able to access their training access rate using data from the last three years.

Better information on professional integration

Finally, these are information on professional opportunities which is reinforced for this year. They “were until now limited to BTS and professional licenses; they are extended to general licenses, agricultural BTS, engineering, business and management schools”, specifies the ministry. This represents 75% of the training courses present on Parcoursup. Furthermore, before the end of January, data on the net salary per month one year after leaving studies will be integrated.

The calendar has also been redesigned. The first responses from the training will arrive on June 2 and the classification of pending wishes will take place between June 6 and 10 so that a “maximum high school students can receive at least one admission offer before the written baccalaureate exams”, explains the ministry. This year, they take place from June 16 to July 2.
