Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard has said that the Gunners are “desperate to win trophies” ahead of their Carabao Cup quarterfinal at home to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
The Gunners will play host to the Eagles at the Emirates Stadium, where a place in the semi-final of the competition is on the line, meaning that victory on Wednesday would put Arsenal potentially just two wins away from silverware – due to the semi-finals being played over two legs.
While fans are hungry to see success on the pitch, after years of ‘what if’ moments across various competitions, captain Ødegaard has revealed that the club are ‘desperate to win trophies’ ahead of the quarterfinal tie which promises to offer a tough test to Mikel Arteta’s side.

Ahead of the quarterfinal, Ødegaard said: “We’re at the quarter-final stage now and this is a competition we want to win. We are all desperate to win trophies together & this competition is another chance for that.
“We are close to the final now, so we want to make the most of this opportunity and go all the way. The big goal for this club is silverware and as a team, we are determined to do that, we’ve said that for a long time now.”

If they are to emerge victorious against Oliver Glasner’s side, Arsenal will face one of Newcastle United, Brentford, Southampton, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United in the semi-final – with every tie looking like a tightly-contested affair, should they materialise.
Arsenal cannot afford to get ahead of themselves, however, with Crystal Palace having lost just one of their last nine games in all competitions – with their last two results, a draw at home to Manchester City and a 3-1 win away to rivals Brighton & Hove Albion providing plenty of confidence ahead of their trip to North London.
