Demand Soars for Buff Matthew McConaughey as American ATP Pros Aim for His Attention

As the world anticipates the 2025 season, excitement surrounds the Nothing Major Podcast, hosted by former ATP players Sam Querrey, John Isner, Jack Sock, and Steve Johnson. The hosts deliver updates and insights while sharing behind-the-scenes anecdotes, playful banter, match predictions, and interviews with fellow players and special guests. Their latest guest, Nick Kyrgios, discussed his journey back to the court and his reputation in the sport. However, securing guests has proven challenging for the quartet.

Before their chat with Kyrgios on December 13, the hosts lightheartedly revealed that Querrey was the “thirstiest” among them when it comes to securing guests. Isner playfully asked, “How many yeses have you gotten? How many nos?” Querrey, who retired after the 2022 US Open, candidly replied, “For every guest we get, I get ten no’s. I’ve gotten a lot of ‘no’ replies.” The former American star recounted reaching out to Stan Wawrinka, who is set to compete as a wildcard entry at the 2025 Australian Open. While Wawrinka expressed enthusiasm about joining the podcast, he emphasized the need to coordinate a suitable date and time.

Being a former pro and knowing how hectic the tennis schedule can be, Querrey humorously noted, “Yeah, that’s what I’m trying to do right now.” Highlighting the ongoing challenges of their guest-list adventure. Even Carlos Alcaraz’s agent shrugged him off twice! But on the flip side, he mentioned an ambitious attempt to invite Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey, stating, “I reached out to Matthew McConaughey. He’s playing tennis; why don’t I shoot my shot?”

The other hosts laughed at Querrey’s bold move and were eager to hear how the conversation unfolded. He shared his approach: “‘Hey, Matthew. How is it going? I see you’ve been playing a bunch of tennis… myself, John Isner, Jack Sock, Steve Johnson have a new podcast called ‘Nothing Major.’ We’ve had Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Diego Schwartzman, and others on… wanted to see if you’d be interested in coming on for an episode.’” While his efforts were commendable, Jack Sock chimed in with a quip about Querrey “name-dropping tennis players” as if that would sway an Academy Award Winner.

Ultimately, Querrey concluded with McConaughey’s response: “Yeah, I’d love to come on but it has to wait a little bit. I’m a little bit under the weather and I got to go to the doctor.” This left them wondering when—or if—the actor would join their show. On the other hand, the reason this guest appearance may be a good idea is because McConaughey has shown his support for tennis this year. He has been spotted at matches featuring Novak Djokovic and has sent encouraging messages to players before their competitions.

Roll.” With his enthusiastic endorsements, McConaughey continues to shine a spotlight on tennis and its players.
