Winter Storm Watch in effect for parts of the area starting Wednesday evening | Local News

(Undated)–The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for parts of west central Minnesota from 6 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) through 6 p.m. Thursday evening.  This will impact such communities in the area as Ashby, Barrett, Elbow Lake, Fergus Falls, and Detroit Lakes. The National Weather Service says heavy snow will be possible. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 7 inches are possible. In addition, the winds could gust as high as 35 mph which will make travel conditions hazardous.

* WHAT…Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 7 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE…Portions of northwest and west central Minnesota and northeast and southeast North Dakota.

* WHEN…From this evening through Thursday afternoon.

* IMPACTS…Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes.
