After a two-week break due to the Champions Cup, the French clubs return to the Top 14 this weekend. With a victory at home against Harlequins (23-12) and a defeat at Sale (29-7), Racing 92 has not necessarily reassured itself on the European scene…and the start of the week isn’t going to help matters.
Sunday evening, the group gathered for a Christmas meal which apparently got a little out of hand. According to information from L’Équipe, Camille Chat would have arrived drunk at training the next day when Janick Tarrit would not have shown up. A behavior sanctioned by Stuart Lancaster who will not call either of them for the 12th Top 14 meeting, this Saturday, December 21 (4:30 p.m.) in Montpellier.
Who to insure at the heel?
Without Camille Chat (three starts in five match sheets this season) and Janick Tarrit (two starts in seven matches), Ile-de-France management opens the door to competition.
In their absence, Australian Feleti Kaitu’u, who has played seven Top 14 matches since the start of the 2024-2025 campaign, seems to be starting in the shoes of a starter.
But Diego Escobar and Robin Couly will undoubtedly have a card to play in the coming weeks if exclusion occurs. It remains to be seen what the club management will decide regarding two culprits.
