VRT face Zita Wauters also convicted of driving under the influence

According to the police, the presenter (20) drove past the dispensation for the alcohol checks and did so at an inappropriate speed. Officers had to stop her a little further away. According to her lawyer, she acknowledges the facts. “She had a positive test, but she had not drunk much,” it said.

The judge imposed a fifteen-day driving ban on Wauters and a fine of 480 euros. She is also required to take her practical exam again.

Wauters is the third VRT face to be in the news in a short period of time regarding driving under the influence. Tom Waes’ accident caused a commotion at the beginning of this month and yesterday it was announced that Ruben Van Gucht has lost his driving license after a positive breath test.
