“We need to change our legislation”pleaded the resigning Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, Wednesday morning on BFM-TV and RMC on the subject of the migratory flow in Mayotte. According to the former president of the Les Républicains group in the Senate, “we left the Mahorais alone in the face of their misfortune”on the subject of irregular immigration coming mainly from neighboring Comoros. For Mr. Retailleau, the human toll that is expected will be particularly heavy “where there were bangas, shanty towns”where they would have been, according to him, “100,000 illegal immigrants in an irregular situation”.
“The Mahorais are not racist, but, believe me, all elected officials have the same language. They want a stable situation to return. They are the ones who are asking for a change in the law.”he defended. “One child is born per hour in the Mamoudzou maternity ward – the largest in France. Seventy-four percent of these babies have a mother who is illegal”he explained, denouncing the rights of the soil. He particularly attacked the leaders of the Comoros.
“We know very well that there is a Comorian policy which ultimately consists of letting (…). There is a form, the word is probably too strong, of hybrid war if I dare say, by pushing populations towards Mayotte to create a sort of clandestine occupation”he said. “It’s as if in France we had around 20 million illegal immigrants. Can a society live in civil harmony with such a demographic imbalance? »he then asked.
