The Germany ticket, the Bavarian reduction ticket and the 365 euro ticket should also be able to be used by citizens in the new year in the area of the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV). Formally, this requires the consent of the authority responsible for local public transport. The Rosenheim district council complied with this in its meeting today (December 17, 2024).
The district councilors unanimously voted in favor of extending the Germany ticket for 2025. District Administrator Otto Lederer was authorized to issue the necessary general decree. It not only regulates that the transport companies operating in the Rosenheim district must recognize the Deutschlandticket. The general decree also states that they will receive compensation for any financial disadvantages that arise.
The Germany ticket will cost 58 euros per month from January 1st. The Bavarian discount ticket, a discounted version of the Germany ticket exclusively for trainees, students and those doing voluntary service, costs 38 euros per month. Because these prices do not cover costs, the federal government and the state of Bavaria have to compensate for so-called shortfalls in revenue. The district budget should not be burdened, this is stated in the district council’s resolution. “If it becomes apparent that the financing is not sufficient, then we have to be able to pull the ripcord,” said District Administrator Otto Lederer. In this case, the MVV would inform the responsible committees, in the Rosenheim district the district council. They could then decide to withdraw from the Deutschlandticket.
A general decree is also necessary for the 365 euro ticket. With the accession of the districts of Landsberg am Lech and Weilheim Schongau on January 1st, the scope of validity for the inexpensive annual ticket for school students and trainees will change. This means you can use public transport throughout the MVV area. The 365 euro ticket was introduced in the MVV area on August 1, 2020 at the request of the Free State of Bavaria. Because this ticket does not cover costs either, the state shares two-thirds of the shortfall in revenue. The remaining third is taken over by the alliance partners. The decisive factor for the calculation is the respective student potential in the independent cities and districts. The Bavarian State Statistical Office provides the data for this. The MVV forecasts a compensation payment of around 870,000 euros for the Rosenheim district. The Rosenheim district council unanimously approved the continuation of the 365 euro ticket from January 1, 2025.
