The MEL hopes that this extension will make it possible to make “corrections” to the new control system of the Lille metro after the incident which led to the interruption of traffic for several hours this Tuesday, December 17.
The European Metropolis of Lille will impose on Alstom and Ilévia the extension of the probationary period of the new automatic piloting system of the Lille metro until January 6 “at least”, after the “major” incident which occurred this Tuesday, December 17 which led to the interruption of traffic for several hours.
This extension should make it possible to make “corrections” and “continue to work on improving the performance” of the system designed by Alstom and operated by Ilévia, specifies the MEL in a press release.
“Aware of the importance of the difficulties caused, the Metropolis regrets this unfortunate situation experienced by users and apologizes to them,” adds the community, which was delighted at the reduction in incidents “in recent days”.
A new software version planned for February
The MEL also says it reminded Ilévia of the importance of communicating in real time with users to allow them to find alternative solutions in the event of disruptions and avoid secondary incidents, such as the triggering of alarm handles.
A “new software version” of the autopilot system is expected in February. The metropolis hopes that it will allow the correction of dysfunctions in a “permanent” manner.
