All the happiness in the world… Or almost. Just crowned Miss France 2025 on Saturday, Angélique Angarni-Filopon, Miss Martinique 2024, will not be able to participate in the next Miss World competition. Indeed, her coronation on a national scale was made possible thanks to the rules put in place by the Miss France committee, and which do not apply to the international organization.
Age is in the minds… of the organizers
In 2022, the year Cindy Fabre took office as head of the Miss France committee, succeeding Sylvie Tellier, the regulations pushed back the age limit for participating in Miss France. Thus, Angélique Angarni-Filopon, 34, became the oldest of the famous competition, hosted for thirty years by Jean-Pierre Foucault, on TF1. But the global regulations are quite different. It is specified that the age of Miss World participants must be between 18 and 27 years old, which rules out Miss France 2025.
What about France?
However, France should not ignore the Miss World competition. Indeed, the Miss France committee will have the possibility of registering one of this year's runners-up to represent France. Among our colleagues from The Voice of the NorthSabah Aïb, Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais 2024 and first runner-up to Miss France 2025, assured that she was ready to compete. “I was not aware of this age limit,” testified the 18-year-old young woman. In any case, if she [Angélique Angarni-Filopon] doesn't go and she agrees, I'll try my luck. »
Another possibility, the institution headed by Cindy Fabre could call on a former Miss, aged under 27 therefore, and who has never yet participated in the world competition. Eve Gilles, Miss France 2024, could thus be a candidate. The date and location of the Miss World 2025 competition are not yet known.
As a reminder, Clémence Botino, Miss France 2020, defended the tricolors in the Miss World… 2024 competition. The former Miss Guadeloupe had climbed into the top forty. Ophély Mézino (in 2019) and Marine Loiseau (2013) finished second in the global event, and we have to go back to Denise Perrier, in 1953, to find a French woman crowned Miss World.
A place in the Universe?
Angélique Angarni-Filopon can rest assured, she will be able, at 34, to represent France during the 74th edition of Miss Universe (the date of the competition is not yet known). Since the takeover of the company that manages the competition in 2022, women over 28 can claim the title of beauty queen, just like married women, divorced women, mothers and transgender women. As a reminder, the second Miss France who became Miss Universe is called Iris Mittenaere, ex-Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, in 2016. The first was Christiane Martel, crowned… in 1953.
