Did you know?
Two films for one book
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is the adaptation of the seventh and final novel in the adventures of the sorcerer's apprentice. In order to guarantee satisfactory development and a conclusion that meets expectations, it was decided to separate this seventh film into two episodes. So there were eight films for seven novels. “(…) It was the only way we had to tell the story in a complete and satisfying way“, explains Daniel Radcliffe.
On the spot
For the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, David Yates said he filmed in a more realistic style, almost documentary-like, in order to best convey the frantic pace of the journey undertaken by the three heroes.
Into nature!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is the first film in the saga that does not take place at Hogwarts. The three protagonists are confronted with the outside world and the general atmosphere, darker than usual, is affected. “Suddenly Harry, Ron and Hermione are trying to survive in the jungle of the real world and it's a hostile world. They feel isolated, alone and very vulnerable. This more nervous, more adult side of the adventure really appealed to me, as it did to Dan, Rupert and Emma.“, explains director David Yates.
