The CAF Awards 2024 ceremony was held this Monday evening in Marrakech (Morocco). Favorite of this trophy presentation organized on his land, the right side of PSG Achraf Hakimi nevertheless saw the Nigerian Ademola Lookman be crowned best player on the continent.
A snub. While he was cited as the favorite for the award, moreover during a ceremony organized at home, in his presence and that of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, PSG full-back Achraf Hakimi saw this Monday evening in Marrakech (Morocco) the trophy for African player of the year 2024 passed under his nose, since it was the Nigerian Ademola Lookman, offensive leader of Atalanta, who was crowned within a few whistles best player on the continent.
Winner of the Europa League (with a hat-trick in the final), finalist of the Italian Cup and finalist of CAN 2024 – where he appeared in the eleven of the tournament – with Nigeria, Lookman succeeds his compatriot Victor Osimhen, awarded in 2023.
