CAF Awards 2024: Distribution of 54 Foot magazine in Marrakech

The city of Marrakech will host the “CAF Awards” ceremony on Monday, December 16, an event that celebrates the exceptional performances of African football figures, both at club and national team level.

54 Foot magazine will be distributed in Marrakech alongside the ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 7 PM. Designed exclusively for the 54 African associations, it highlights the leaders of African football and honors their key roles in the development of the sport across the continent.

Furthermore, the Moroccan stars competing for the 2024 CAF Awards seek to inscribe their names with golden letters in the annals of continental football.

Heading the list of Moroccan candidates for the 2024 CAF Awards is PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi, who is challenging for the Player of the Year title after an exceptional season. Hakimi played a crucial role in the Olympic team’s historic bronze medal win at the 2024 Olympic Games, and has particularly shone with the senior national team during the qualifiers for the 2025 African Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco, in addition to his triumphs with PSG in the league and the French Cup.

On the women’s side, Morocco is well represented, especially with AS FAR striker and national team member Sanaa Mssoudy in contention for the Player of the Year award, alongside Zambia’s Barbra Banda and Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie.

As the Best Player of the Women’s Champions League (Morocco 2024), Mssoudy played a key role in AS FAR qualifying for the final of this continental competition.

Mssoudy is also nominated for the Interclub Player of the Year title, alongside her military club teammate Doha El Madani, who is the Champions League’s top scorer with six goals. The latter is also among those nominated for the Young Player of the Year title, while her teammate Khadija Er-Rmichi is in the running for the Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Among the nominees for the title of Coach of the Year are two Moroccans: Mohamed Amine Alioua, who was a finalist in the last Women’s Champions League with AS FAR, and Lamia Boumehdi, who led Congolese TP Mazembe to the title in this competition by first time in its history.

The CAF 2024 Awards cover the period from January to October of the same year.

The winners in each category will be decided by the votes of the CAF technical committee, media professionals, head coaches and captains of the member associations, as well as clubs participating in the group stages of interclub competitions.
