Miss France 2025, Angélique Angarni-Filopon, will not be able to compete at Miss World because of her age

MISS WORLD – Angélique Angarni-Filopon, elected Miss France 2025 this weekend, had fueled discussions in the press ahead of the competition due to one of the characteristics of her profile: her age. At 34 years old, Miss Martinique was in fact the first thirty-year-old candidate in the history of the competition. But if this could work in her favor at the national level, it will be quite the opposite for the election of Miss World next year.

And for good reason: the rules of the global competition specify that competitors must be aged between 18 and 27.

As a result, it is the first runner-up, Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais Sabah Aïb, who could participate in place of Angélique Angarni-Filopon. “I was not aware of this age limit. In any case, if she doesn't go and she agrees, I'll give it a try.”assured Sabah Aïb, 18, in the columns of The Voice of the North.

No age limit for Miss Universe

Age is not a problem for another world-famous pageant, Miss Universe. Since 2022, women over 28 can claim the crown, as can those who are married, divorced, mothers or transgender.

As she explained during the Miss France ceremony on Saturday evening, Angélique Angarni-Filopon said she wanted to try her luck again this year after the organizers' decision to lift the age limit, she who had already presented herself at Miss Martinique in 2011.

Previously, Miss France was not allowed to exceed the age of 24. This year, a 52-year-old woman presented herself but did not go beyond the regional level. Since 2022, the competition has also been open to married or partnered women, including mothers. An overhaul of the regulations also authorizes applications from transgender women who have gone through a “ change of marital status ».
