Following the defeat against Leganés in matchday 17 of La Liga, alarms were raised at Barcelona regarding Lamine Yamal due to an ankle injury.
The loss at home to Leganés was a double blow for Hansi Flick’s side, who missed the chance to pull 4 points clear of Real Madrid, who drew with Rayo Vallecano. Additionally, concerns have emerged over a possible ankle injury to Yamal, who had to leave the pitch in the 75th minute.
The Catalan club is worried about one of its brightest young talents, as Yamal exited the field in distress after suffering an ankle knock that prevented him from completing the match while his team was trailing. Fears are mounting that this could be a serious issue, as it would not be the first ankle injury he has sustained this season.
This Monday, the blaugrana will assess the severity of Yamal’s injury through medical examinations. However, there is little confidence that the 17-year-old will be fit for the match this Saturday, December 21, at the Estadio del Atlético de Madrid, where both teams are vying for the La Liga lead, each sitting on 38 points.

If confirmed, this would mark the second time this season that the Spanish player misses matches due to an ankle injury. Yamal suffered a right ankle contusion last month following a heavy challenge against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League, resulting in him missing matches against Real Sociedad, Celta de Vigo, and Brest, in addition to being excluded from ‘La Roja’ squad during the November FIFA window.
