Kyle Walker branded a ‘diver’ after heated Rasmus Hojlund incident in Man City and Man Utd clash

Kyle Walker has been mocked on social media after clashing with Rasmus Hojlund during Sunday’s derby clash between Manchester City and Manchester United.

Both players put their heads together at the Etihad Stadium after Walker had shoved Hojlund to the floor.

Neither man aggressively went for a headbutt – but Walker still fell to the floor dramatically.

And fans on social media have mocked the City star for his theatrical reaction, which happened just moments after Josko Gvardiol’s goal had given Pep Guardiola’s side the lead.

“KYLE WALKER SHOULD BE CARDED FOR THIS DIVE ARE YOU KIDDING???” one fan exclaimed. He was indeed booked for his role in the clash.

A second said: “Send Walker off for diving, f***ing embarrassing.”

A third wrote: “Walker is an absolute embarrassment there. Pathetic dive.”

Another opined: “Kyle walker should retire from football and become a deep sea diver in the bermuda triangle.”

And a fifth said: “Embarrassing by Kyle Walker. Hojlund didn’t headbutt him.”

Gary Neville, commentating for Sky Sports, accused the City star of ‘poor’ behaviour and said he will be ’embarrassed’ when he watches the footage back.

“It’s poor from Kyle Walker. He goes down when he realises there might have been contact,” he said.

“I think he will be a little bit embarrassed when he sees that back.”

City go into their match with United desperate to close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table to six points.

The Reds were held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham on Saturday, with Andy Robertson seeing red.

City have lost seven of their last 10 matches across all competitions, something that seemed unfeasible just months ago.

Yet they’re facing a United team who have struggled this term, with Ruben Amorim’s side also losing their last two league matches against Nottingham Forest and Arsenal respectively.
