It’s been a busy few days for new Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso and his time to finally get things going in an official match has come.
The Tshwane giants take on Raja Casblanca in a CAF Champions League group match at Loftus Stadium and it’s a perfect opportunity for Cardoso to announce himself to the club’s supporters in style on home soil.

It’s also going to provide the supporters an opportunity on which players could play a key role in the Portuguese coach’s line-up going forward.
Ronwen Williams is expected to hold onto his place as a number one goalkeeper and will wear the captain’s armband for the clash against the defending Moroccan champions.
It’s at the back where it will be interesting to see who Cardoso trusts for his first match. Khuliso Mudau and Aubrey Modiba are likely to start at right and left back respectively, with Mothobi Mvala and Mosa Lebusa a possible combination in the centre of defence.

Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena could be a key component in the middle of the park with Marcelo Allende likely to join him in a partnership that has been successful for Sundowns. Lucas Ribeiro Costa could be one of Cardoso’s most important players in the number 10 role, with his ability to create opportunities and score goals. Iqraam Rayners looks set to start upfront as the team’s main striker.
