L’egg definitely didn't fall far from the basket. This Saturday, at O'Sullivans, a pub in 12e district of Paris, Louis Sarkozy is the guest of honor at the “Christmas evening” organized by the Young Republicans. For this first, on the second floor of this cozy bar, a little over a hundred curious people gathered to attend the event. “I’m really intrigued to listen to him,” says one activist impatiently.

It must be said that, for several months, the son of the former President of the Republic has been able to arouse interest in his person. Between his media interventions on LCI – where the latter intervenes to decipher international news – and his multiple meetings with the political class, the 27-year-old has already attracted the sympathies of several right-wing leaders, such as the resigning minister of Interior Bruno Retailleau or even David Lisnard, the mayor of Cannes. “He is the first to be surprised by this craze,” people around him plead. “There is a story that is happening, it is not always that at Les Républicains. »
We are familyLouis Sarkozy
Before the arrival of the former president's son, near the stage, two young LRs, beer in hand, nevertheless remain doubtful about the Sarkozy phenomenon. “He’s interesting but we don’t really know him,” explains the first. “We will have to judge on the ideas, and not on the name. A son does not necessarily have the same ideas as his father,” adds the second, who does not recognize himself in the Sarkozysm of fifteen years ago.
Regardless of the hesitations, a few minutes later, the guest of the evening makes his entrance, to the applause of his audience. And some even allow themselves to intone, with a hint of nostalgia, a timid “Sarko, Sarko”.
Welcomed on stage by Emmanuelle Brisson, young party executive, and Florence Portelli, vice-president of the Île-de-France region, Louis Sarkozy, sporting a relaxed style, white shirt and brown jacket, sets off. “We’re family,” he begins mischievously – he who is not part of the party – before continuing. Faced with “the worthless left” and the “disappointing right”, the young man hones his formulas and invites his audience to assume his positioning to create his “identity”. “This party must return to what it has always been, a party of ideas,” asserts Sarkozy's son in gestures strangely similar to those of his father. After a speech lasting around ten minutes, without ever going into detail, he concluded in front of these hundred young people who had come to listen to him: “In disorder, there is a space, there is a demand for renewal, that What more do you want? »
Ambitions barely revealed
If, in the room, several rush to snatch a selfie from the star of the evening, others stay behind. A little frustrated. “I thought he was going to announce something,” regrets a young 18-year-old LR. “It remained on the surface, it’s a shame, even if we feel the dynamism,” comments another.

While some predict young Sarkozy's entry into politics during the next municipal elections or even during an early legislative election, the main person concerned pretends not to see the little enthusiasm around him. “To tell the truth, I learn things about myself by reading the press,” he says with a smile, saying he is above all focused on writing his next work, focused on Napoleon and scheduled for May 2025. “ The Republicans invite me and I'm delighted to speak to them, it's an honor. » “If he responds kindly it is because he is not insensitive, but he remains patient, he is not stupid,” admits one of his relatives.
Already invited, at the beginning of 2025, to new Young Republicans events, in Nice and Marseille, it remains to be seen whether, this time, Louis Sarkozy will reveal more about his personal ambitions. One thing is certain: he wants to dive into the deep end of politics.
