Loïc Meillard has the chance of another podium finish in the World Cup slalom in Val d’Isère. The Frenchman is in 6th place after the first run, which was dominated by Frenchman Steven Amiez.
Although Meillard lost 86 hundredths to Amiez, the time difference to third place, which is held by Austria’s Manuel Feller, is only two tenths. Meillard, who finished third in the first slalom of this World Cup winter in Levi, is back at the front despite a less than perfect run.
Henrik Kristoffersen was also faster than Feller, who has been eliminated in all four of his races so far this winter. The Norwegian was 32 hundredths behind Amiez.
The next Swiss in the intermediate rankings are Tanguy Nef and Luca Aerni. The man from Geneva, who delivered a personal best result in Levi with 5th place, and the man from Bern, the day after his exploit in the giant slalom, are in 14th and 16th place, around two seconds behind.
Once again, Daniel Yule and especially Ramon Zenhäusern did not go as planned. Yule was 2.2 seconds slower than Amiez, Zenhäusern will most likely miss out on qualifying for the second run. Marc Rochat was eliminated for the third time in the third slalom of the winter.

Marco Schwarz had a successful return. The Carinthian, who tore a cruciate ligament in his right knee in the downhill in Bormio a year ago, finished in 10th place.
Clément Noël was not at the start.
