The Zurich singer and solo entertainer Bruno “Nöggi” Stöckli has died at the age of 78. The Zurich original “Nöggi” made its breakthrough in the 1980s with its song “I am en Italiano”.

“Nöggi” was a Zurich original and an unmistakable personality, his friends Charley and Sigi wrote on social media on Sunday. The trio performed together on stage for over 30 years.

Charley and Sigi wrote that he was a great artist. He lived in and for Zurich. “Nöggi” died on Sunday night. The online portal “Blick” first reported on the death.

The most famous song from “Nöggi” is the mood piece “I am en Italiano”, which was also in the Swiss charts at the time in 1981. The song, which was based on a scout song, was at number 15 on the charts. “Nöggi” sang his songs in Zurich German.

His career includes numerous appearances, from stage programs in Zurich’s Bernhard Theater to local events such as weddings and club events. The Swiss cabaret revue “Plaut in Zueri”, in which “Nöggi” appeared, had its premiere in 1983 at the Bernhard Theater.

“Nöggi” released several albums. His best-of album “Mini 20 most requested songs” also includes songs with titles such as “Cowboy-Traum”, “Chilbi-Zyt” and “Hörndli und g’Hackets” or “Chrut und Rüebli”.
