Miss France 2025: Miss Martinique, Angélique Angarni-Filopon, crowned

His face said it all. Amazement followed by tears. Martinican Angélique Angarni-Filopon was the first surprise when she heard the name of her region this Saturday, December 14 at the Arena Futuroscope while Sylvie Vartan announced the winner. Miss France 2025 needed a few seconds to regain her senses. A coronation “quite unique” for Cindy Fabre, crowned twenty years earlier, “because it’s rare to see Misses so surprised”. “She told me: 'Pinch me to see if I'm dreaming!' So I pinched her!”laughs the competition director.

I was very little until fifth grade. (…) When I moved to 6th grade, I gained 30 cm in one year

By winning the title of Miss France 2025, Angélique Angarni-Filopon is already making the history of the competition in which she has dreamed of participating for years. Exactly thirteen. At 20, she failed to become first runner-up to Miss Martinique. At 34, she gave her island its very first crown. Never has a candidate been so old, let alone a winner. “It’s never too late and I am living proof”she insists at a press conference. A mantra that she had already put forward in her portrait and in her first speech once qualified for the top 15, the thirty-year-old wishing to represent “all the women who were once told it was too late”.

“Since I was elected Miss Martinique, you would be surprised to see the number of messages I receive from women who want to change their career, life and country but think it is too late”she notes. Angélique Angarni-Filopon “wanted to try the adventure again last year” but rejected her Miss France project by “professional conscience”. After working in insurance, she was a flight attendant at Corsair for two years. “It’s not an easy job. We’re not just waitresses in the air, it’s much more than that”she insists. Her experience between two flights will be precious to her for this life of Miss France at 100 miles an hour which does not frighten her. “Fatigue and travel are a formality”she smiled.

From her height of 1.83 meters, the Martinican beauty queen had to bend down to receive the crown from the hands of Ève Gilles. “For the record, I was very little until fifth grade. I had buck teeth and they called me 'My little pony'she tells us. When I moved to 6th grade, I gained 30 cm in one year. I went from 1.47 m to 1.77 m, which caused me a bit of teasing and difficulty. But here it is, today I am a big woman and that’s a source of pride.”.

I read many, many things in their eyes. A little bit of shock, I'm not sure they realize. Me neither, that’s good!

Angélique Angarni-Filopon on her parents

A pride that she also saw this Saturday evening at her parents' house, “very modest”. “I don't know if I heard anything else. I think my brain went into a total blackout! In my family we're used to not talking much and moreover proving things to each other. I read in their eyes a lot, a lot of things. A little bit of shock, I'm not sure they realize it either, that's good!“, she says. “I carry both our last names with even more pride”she adds about her elders, a sister and a brother.

She credits her father for his confident speaking out, undoubtedly one of the reasons for her victory. “He did a lot of politics, he was elected in the town where I grew up, in Vauréal in Val-d'Oise. He is a man with very good eloquence, he trains police officers, he is ex -retired chief sergeant. He taught us to get by quite a bit. We had very few video games and a lot of books. It developed my love of reading.she remembers. Angélique Angarni-Filopon says she is ready to begin the next stage of her life. The one who has “the habit of controlling everything” wanna “just let go for once”. Starting with the qualifiers that could stick to him.

When asked if she doesn't want to be labeled as “the dean of Miss France”Angélique Angarni-Filopon answers us: “Absolutely”. “I'm constantly reminded of my age. I think I'm well preserved, I have no wrinkles! And I'm young, 34 years old. Five years ago, I was in my twenties. It's not not that far back. I was warned that the thirties were the best years and I can confirm it. In my twenties, I wanted to be and do like everyone else. then ten years ago, I cut my hair”she replies.

“Obviously I don't want to be characterized by my short hair or by my age. Because neither of these define me at all. You'll see, I have very good energy . I don't know how to do anything other than smile. We're going to have an incredible year.”she promises. The appointment is made.
