Matheus Reis: «When we lose it feels like the world ends» – Sporting

Matheus Reis does not hide the importance of Sporting returning to winning ways this Saturday (3-2 against Boavista) for the team’s clear objective: “the second championship”. Speaking to Sporting , the Brazilian player highlighted the confidence that the result achieved in Alvalade gives the dressing room and points to the team’s focus on “improving”.Is victory more important in terms of calculations or in emotional terms? “Both of us. We needed this victory to maintain first place as well as for our confidence. We were working, improving game after game and we knew that the victories would return. We won again and this will give more confidence to the whole team.”

Boavista’s effectiveness. “It’s not the first game that happens. There are about three games that are like this. When they go there they score. These are phases, we have to be aware of what we are doing, of our work, we work hard so that it doesn’t happen again. But unfortunately It seems like a streak of bad luck. We don’t focus on that, we focus on improving, we watch videos to see what we can improve so it doesn’t happen again.

“Everyone is fighting for the same goal, which is to win and honor this symbol of champion on our chest. We are looking for a second championship, we don’t hide it from anyone, all the employees, players deserve it and fight, they fight every day. When we lose it seems like it hurts , that the world ends. It’s that feeling of frustration that you have to have when you’re here.”

Is working on victories different? “Of course, it’s always very good. The confidence of winning again… The group deserves it, the coaching staff deserves it… We are focused on achieving our goals, it’s the least the club deserves. Let’s celebrate, yes, but already focused on next game.”
