Since Friday, December 13, a new tenant has moved into Matignon. François Bayrou was indeed appointed Prime Minister, succeeding Michel Barnier, censored a few days ago by the National Assembly. But how much does the 73-year-old politician's assets amount to? According to his son André, “his bank accounts are never too full”, he confided in the columns of Parisian in 2007. However, he is a man of the land and the new Prime Minister has made interesting investments over the years. Having never left his native village of Bordères, located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, he is the proud owner of a country residence extending over several floors and on nine hectares of land. A residence made up of several buildings, including a barn and a stable, nicknamed white house because of the color of its walls.
Acquired for the price of 65,357 euros, his property was then revalued at 450,000 euros a dozen years ago. In 2012, François Bayrou explained to L’Express that the “Borrowings and bank loans intended for this acquisition are still outstanding for an amount of €187,913”. This son of farmers is also a mare breeder. He then specified that he did not have race horses and that this activity, integrated into the agricultural operation, was “deficit”. However, this would earn him an additional 20,000 euros in 2019. In addition to his country house, François Bayrou also owns a 50 square meter apartment located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, and more precisely rue Cler. A property that he bought in 1997 for 179,890 euros, estimated fifteen years later at 410,000 euros, as mentioned Le Figaro in 2012.
