At 75, Richard Gere is not afraid of big changes. The American actor recently made a major decision which could shake up his habits, for the beautiful eyes of his wife, Alejandra.

It's never too late to change your life. Richard Gere, 75, is living proof. The star of Pretty Woman gave up (almost) everything for love. The American actor, well established in the state of Connecticut, recently packed up. His new destination: Madrid, hometown of his wife Alejandra Silva, whom he married in secret in 2018. In April, Richard Gere welcomed this move in the pages of Vanity Fair : “For me, going to Madrid is going to be a great adventure because I have never lived full-time outside of the United States.

But this decision was mainly taken for Alejandra Silva, daughter of the former vice-president of Real Madrid, very involved in various associations such as the NGO Rais Foundation for the Homelesswhich helps homeless people in Spain. He explains: “For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to get closer to her family, her lifelong friends and her culture.” The couple, who welcomed their second child in 2020, seem to particularly enjoy being in the Spanish capital, where they were seen all smiles at the end of November at the event ELLE For Future 2024. A welcome new beginning, after the difficult experience of the death of the actor's father, Homer Gere in March 2023, at almost 101 years old.

Richard Gere: who are the women who marked his life?

Before leaving, Richard Gere sold his house for several million euros

Before his family prepared to celebrate their first Christmas in Spain, Richard Gere prepared well for his departure and separated from his home, located in New Canaan, an hour's drive from New York. A building of more than 800 square meters, built in 1938, located in the heart of a vast plot of land of nearly 13 hectares, where the actor was able to enjoy a swimming pool, several terraces, gardens, forest trails, a natural pond and even a waterfall! He had bought it two years earlier from the tumultuous musician couple Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, for nearly 10 million euros. Upon departure, the actor sold it for 9.9 million euros. No added value therefore, for the actor. But when you love, you don't count.
