A third place for Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado in the X2O Trophy Herentals. She thinks there could have been more to it. “It just went wrong halfway through,” said the Fenix-Deceuninck rider, who crashed during the third round, in the flash interview afterwards.
“That may have cost me one or two places,” Alvarado thinks. “But in the end I came third and I think I can be satisfied with that.”
Alvarado fell in the transition post. What exactly went wrong there? “That’s difficult to say. I think the handling and delivery didn’t go as smoothly as usual. My bike bounced, I tried to jump up, but it all went wrong. Maybe I should have waited a while before jumping up, but it was very unexpected. I didn’t see it coming at all. When I wanted to jump up, I jumped half next to it and behind it. And I didn’t have a good grip on my bike either. A lot of things went wrong, but that can happen.”
Yet Alvarado, who did not play for several weeks, mainly has a positive feeling about the cross in Herentals. “It actually went better than expected. I have had quite a few tough weeks in terms of training. I started this weekend with the idea that things might not go very smoothly. But the feeling was better than expected. I was on board from the start and had a good feeling. I’ll take that with me.”
