SRF-DOK: “Kosmos Büne Huber” – that’s the patent Ochsner singer – Radio SRF 3

“I can’t write songs without painting,” Huber tells filmmaker Matthias Lüscher right at the beginning of the “DOK” “Kosmos Büne Huber”. And so the journey begins through a life full of pictures, people and songs.

In the music blog he looks up, under and behind current music topics and their background noise.

He paints, writes, composes, designs, doodles, designs, thinks, rejects, heads, circumnavigates, turns, gives in, offends, breaks out, shoots – accurately, explains – stringently, fulfills expectations and surprises – even himself – but above all his audience, again and again. Patent Ochsner drummer Ändu Hug says he has been wondering for decades what is going on in Huber’s head.

Büne here. Büne there. Büne almost. Büne rare? Rather rare! Huber is there. With heart and stomach between the lobes of the brain and amazes with his incredible output. This ranges from a quick shot with taste to a canvas that has been painted over many times, which develops into the starting point of an idea, from which a fragment of a song may later emerge.

And somewhere between art and failure, success and idleness or the detour before the finish line, food has to be on the table. Friends are cared for. Family is lived. Is it magic that the feat succeeds – or simply the right constellation in the Huber universe?

I don’t know anyone who has a heart as big as Büne.

With Huber things can happen quickly. The «W. “Nuss vo Bümpliz”, one of the biggest Swiss hits, Huber wrote in just 15 minutes. At the very first meeting, he revealed to her that he would like to marry Sue, his current wife, straight away. “I don’t know anyone who has a heart as big as Büne,” says Sue Huber in the SRF “DOK” “Kosmos Büne Huber”.

Huber must be a human being who creates hermitical spaces for himself. How else could he process and edit stories in this unique way? Such strong handwriting develops in the exam. The ink, however, is provided by life among people – and Huber is clearly a master at the leap between sociability and isolation.

And no. The 62-year-old artist is not a magician. But he can do a bit of magic and enchantment. And to prove that the Huber box is not a cheap trick, every now and then a warm tear builds up on our eyelid, from where it then shortly afterwards rolls down our cheek.
