François Bayrou appointed prime minister: NFP, RN, LR… who will vote on a motion of censure?

The equation is simple, put down on paper. To hope to hold out longer than his predecessor Michel Barnier, François Bayrou must count on the non-censorship of at least one of the two opposition blocs: the National Rally and the New Popular Front. Status report on everyone’s positions on the day of their appointment.

La insoumise already announces censorship

Barely had François Bayrou been appointed to Matignon, the national coordinator of the rebels, Manuel Bompard denounced “a new arm of honor for democracy”. “After losing all the last elections, Macron installs his first and last support in Matignon. Bringing down Bayrou will therefore bring down Macron. announces the deputy. The FI group will submit to the National Assembly what could be the first censure of the Bayrou government: “Two choices will be available to deputies: support for saving Macron or censorship. We made ours,” warns Mathilde Panot, leader of FI elected officials at the Palais Bourbon.

The PCF denounces a “denial of reality” and proposes a renunciation of 49.3

The communists regret, by press release, the appointment of François Bayrou. “The choice of the ballot box should have led him to appoint a left-wing Prime Minister from the coalition that came out on top”they recall. But the PCF has not yet taken a position on possible censorship of François Bayrou. “This appointment sends a bad signal, because the French are waiting for a new policy, but we are ready to debate whether he renounces article 49.3”declared Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the PCF, thus taking up the proposal made by the left during the parliamentary meetings at the Élysée, at the beginning of the week (it was then, for a possible NFP government, to renounce the controversial article of the Constitution). « If he maintains Macron's political course, it will be censorship. However, warns PCF spokesperson Ian Brossat.

Environmentalists ready to censor

On the Environmentalists' side, censorship is far from being ruled out. “We will look at the content of the policy that is emerging. If it is to keep the same in strategic positions, including Mr. Retailleau at the Interior, if it is to do nothing on pensions, ecology and tax justice, I do not see what other choice we would have than to censor it »indicated the boss of the Greens, Marine Tondelier. MP Benjamin Lucas-Lundy, spokesperson for the group in the Assembly, indicated earlier in the day that he would vote “at this stage gladly” a motion of censure against François Bayrou, whose choice constitutes “a spit in the face of voters”.

The PS “remains in opposition”

“The socialists will not participate in your government and will remain in opposition”indicated the first secretary of the PS Olivier Faure to François Bayrou, putting an end to the rumor of a hypothetical dropout of the socialists from the NFP. The rose party demands that the new head of government renounce article 49.3, otherwise it would place itself “under the dependence of the RN” since there would be a motion of censure again. “The continuation of an already censored policy and method would lead to the same result”threatens the PS.

At the National Rally, no a priori censorship

“There is no a priori censorship”, reacted Jordan Bardella, leader of the far-right party, after the appointment of François Bayrou. The RN still intends to play the arbiter of the elegances of the new government, by reserving the right to censor at the time it suits, and by serving as a crutch for the executive in the meantime. Jordan Bardella stressed, however, that the “red lines” of the RN, who led its deputies to vote for the censure of Michel Barnier the previous week, remain the same: “No reimbursement of medicines, do not weaken the economic and social situation of retirees. »
