After numerous leaks, Hazelight Studios' new game, Split Fiction, was officially revealed at The Game Awards.
Josef Fares, head of Hazelight Studios, was on hand to quickly explain several features of his team's upcoming co-op adventure, which features two aspiring writers who inadvertently find themselves in the same simulation of one of their stories. Discovering that their stories are about to be stolen by a sinister tech company, they must find a way to escape “through the very worlds they created.”
With each level moving from a sci-fi world to a fantasy world, Split Fiction also promises unique gameplay mechanics for each level, including dragons that are born before becoming “full-fledged dragons that can” fly and kick ass.”
Fares confirmed that, as with previous Hazelight games, you will only need to purchase a single copy of the game to enjoy it cooperatively with a friend.
“That’s what Hazelight is all about,” Fares said. “No loot boxes, no microtransactions, no bullshit. You only have the game.”
Split Fiction is published by EA under its EA Originals label, just like It Takes Two and A Way Out before it. The game will be released on PC and consoles on March 6, 2025.
