Pierre Sage happy with OL's mentality

The OL coach did not hide his happiness after his team's success against Frankfurt (3-2) Thursday evening in the Europa League.

coach Pierre Sage underlined the mentality of his victorious team from the German club Eintracht Frankfurt (3-2), Thursday at Groupama stadium in the match of the 6th day of the Europa League. OL, 4th in the standings, can see a direct qualification for the round of 16 but also secures its place in the play-off.

“I liked the mentality of the team but beyond the game, it was really the management of certain moments, of certain details which meant that we were able to reverse the trend and produce the game that we produced to win”declared Sage at a press conference.

“The fact that we feel as a team, on a common project of building a victory against a great team, this strengthens the bonds and demonstrates the cohesion within this squad. The mentality of the group was very positive this evening.added the technician.

Place at PSG Sunday evening

Lyon trailed 1-0 before equalizing and taking a 3-1 lead. “Today, the public is the best barometer through its attitude. All the spectators present really encouraged us and that gives strength to the players but if the public is in this commitment it is because they find themselves in the team” added the Lyon coach.

During its journey, Lyon beat the two hat 1 teams offered to it in this Europa League: Glasgow Rangers (4-1) and Eintracht Frankfurt. “For me, in competition, there is no more hat and all the matches are played and are difficult. We managed to win those matches. Beyond the first, I think that this Thursday evening, we faced a very high quality opponent. I didn’t follow this team very much but I think I will follow it from now on”commented Pierre Sage.

“It’s a deserved defeat. We had started well. We were under pressure but we showed a lot of courage. We also opened the score before Lyon equalized and that changed everything for Lyon.said Eintracht coach Dino Topmoller for his part.

“It’s a defeat that will teach us a lot for the future and especially for the knockout phase. When you play against a team of the quality of Lyon, every mistake is paid for in cash”he added. Sunday evening, Lyon challenges SG during the 15th day of Ligue 1.
