Raphaël Glucksmann was the guest of the show Face to face by Apolline de Malherbe on BFM TVthis Thursday, December 12, 2024. A tense interview which made the MEP come off his hinges.
It was a heated exchange that took place on the set of BFM TV this Thursday, December 12, 2024! Raphaël Glucksmann was the guest of the show Face to face of Apolline de Malherbes in order to react to the censorship of Michel Bernier's government and the upcoming appointment of a new prime minister. Very quickly, during this interview, the tone rose between the two protagonists. The reason? The journalist accused Léa Salamé's companion of having supported Jean-Luc Mélenchon through one of his texts published in 2022. Which he formally denies! “I never supported Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the presidential elections. he assured before justifying himself: “In the 2024 legislative elections, because they were decreed urgently, because there was the threat of an immediate takeover of power by the national gathering, because we only had three days to find a solution, I I supported the new Popular Front, yes (…)”.
Words which do not seem to convince Apolline de Malherbe who reiterated by asking her guest if he supported Jean-Luc Mélenchon as a candidate for prime minister. To which Raphaël Glucksmann replied: “I take responsibility for all the struggles, all the divisions and I said it at the time of the creation of the new Popular Front: there will be no Jean-Luc Mélenchon prime minister.”. But the journalist from BFM TV insisted and asked the following question: “Did you, yes or no, at that time, still write this famous text?. Astonished, the MEP continued to deny: “In 2022, I wrote: 'I will not campaign with Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Prime Minister', I said it”. Still not convinced, Apolline de Malherbe continued her interview by declaring: “But there were still times when you ended up doing it!”. Which made Raphaël Glucksmann come off his hinges, who reacted very quickly.

An extremely tense exchange
“But no, no! That's not true! I supported the gathering of the left in a very particular situation and I tell you, I said each time: 'I will never campaign for Jean-Luc Mélenchon prime minister and I do not want Jean-Luc Mélenchon president'”, said on BFM TV Raphaël Glucksmann, who was stung by a joke about Léa Salamé. Before concluding: “I have never deviated from this line for a very simple reason: I think he cannot be the candidate of the left to access responsibilities. (…) Neither yesterday, nor today, nor tomorrow for a simple reason: his vision of the world is not mine, will never be mine”. Then, the politician backed up his words: “When we are faced with a threat from the National Rally, we must prioritize the dangers and that is what is moral. It is not draping oneself in one's virtue that is moral. What is moral is to say to ourselves that we are not giving the keys to the country in particular at this time when Europe is at war with Putinist political forces..
