Here we go again! Days of Our Lives may have put Clyde to bed (quite literally, seeing as how he’s in a coma), but they sure haven’t done the same with poor Abigail. Just when we thought the show was finally going to let her rest, instead they just restarted the clock on her return!

We aren’t quite sure how long this countdown will go on the folks at Days of Our Lives may not even know that themselves yet but at least it finally feels like the show has made a choice in the “Is Abigail alive or isn’t she” saga. If they’d wanted her to stay dead, we would have gotten a body from Clyde before Catharina put him in a coma. But we didn’t.

And you know what they say in daytime: No body, no death! Granted the body usually disappears when the person supposedly dies, rather than getting swiped from the cemetery, but the saying still holds here. Heck even Gabi’s forceful insistence to JJ that, at the very least, they know that Abigail is definitely, truly dead just about screamed “irony” at us.

Whether Abigail comes back on her own or Clyde wakes up some day to tell Chad what really happened, Days of Our Lives very pointedly left the door open for her return.

Plus, they’re likely choosing to do it in the soapiest way possible, by holding off on her resurrection until after Chad grows close to Cat and starts moving on with her. Bringing her back now would just be too easy, but wait another year or so and she’ll come back just in time to spoil Chad’s new connection. He’ll then be torn between his wife and his new love for Cat, ratcheting up the drama of Abigail’s return even more.

So no, Abigail may not be back yet, but we’ve got little doubt it’s coming now.
