The mayor of the small town of 1,773 inhabitants, Guy Paris, expressed his amazement at this generosity. “I was a little surprised but I was going to be even more surprised when I found out the valuation of these assets,” he commented to our colleagues. The legacy was divided between the village and the deceased's accountant, who lived modestly in the capital while owning four apartments in the 15th arrondissement.
The surprise for the town is all the greater as this donation represents five times the village's annual budget. Part of the sum will be used for local development projects, but managing this donation is a complex task.
Public garden, bowling alley and football field
Among the projects envisaged, the mayor mentions several initiatives to improve the daily life of residents, such as the creation of a public garden with a playground, the construction of a bowling alley with photovoltaic panels to provide shaded spaces, as well as the energy renovation of the primary school. A synthetic football field and a France Services area are also part of the upcoming projects.
