OpenAI and Meta service disruptions are now resolved. Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, among others, remained inaccessible for hours for many users.
On Wednesday evening, users of Meta’s services reported disruptions around the world. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp remained inaccessible for several hours. Numerous notifications were also published on the Belgian Allestoringen website from around 7 p.m. The problem has now been resolved.
‘Thank you for understanding! We’re back to 99 percent – we’re still just doing some final checks,’ reports Meta on X (formerly Twitter). ‘We apologize to those who were affected by the outage.’ Meta doesn’t explain what exactly happened, however.
This is already the second major disruption this year for Meta. In March, Facebook and Instagram users were unable to connect for several hours.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT, OpenAI’s chatbot, was also paralyzed for several hours overnight from Wednesday to Thursday. Due to technical issues, AI video maker Sora also faced issues. OpenAI did not immediately reveal the cause of the outage. On Wednesday, Apple rolled out updates to integrate ChatGPT into its own apps for newer iPhones and iPads, such as the Siri assistant.
