“We are in a tough period, but we will continue fighting”

Pep Guardiola has no doubt that by playing like today, triumphs will return.

Second-half goals from Dušan Vlahović and Weston McKennie earned the Italians three points at the Allianz Stadium.

In this way, City extended its poor streak of results: we only had one victory in the last ten games. Right now we are in 22nd place out of 36 teams in the Champions league of this format.

Speaking to the media afterwards, the City manager insisted he was more than satisfied with much of what he saw from his players:

“Tonight I don’t think we made many defensive mistakes. That wasn’t the reason we lost. In other games yes, but not today.”

“We missed that last pass when we got to the six-yard box. “That was the difference today, but I liked my team.”

“I love my team for the way we played. The result is not going to convince me otherwise.”

“I congratulate them for the way they defended and for the transitions they made. “We were incredibly aggressive in our high press.”

“We won the long balls. The back four were good. Vlahović is very strong in that position.”

“I’m very happy with the way we played.”

Reflecting on the recent streak of results, the coach added that he continues working to return to winning ways:

“I always question myself in good times and bad times. “I was stable in the good times and I am stable in the bad times.”

“I am incredibly honest when I think about whether or not we played well in a game. The game will end up taking us on the right path.”

“The results give you confidence. The results give us a boost and we can do it.”

“Today we conceded very few chances compared to, for example, Nottingham Forest or some other Premier League games we won.”

“Such is life. This happened and that’s it.”

“We have to accept as normal that sometimes we have bad moments with the results. “We have to insist, insist and insist until the end.”
