The end of SK Deinze is very close. For Tuur Dierckx, what has happened is unreal.
Tuur Dierckx will be a free agent from January. He officially announced this himself on Monday. In the podcast 90 Minutes he told his story about this season and the takeover. “Unfortunately, it has been a long time coming. Now it is clear that it will stop, I think the club will announce that this week. Very unfortunate,” the attacker responds.
The frustration is mainly that he had a feeling of powerlessness. “Everything happened above our heads,” he sighs. Although it is also incomprehensible that all this is actually possible. “It’s crazy that it is still possible in 2024 in Belgium to pull the plug on a project in the middle of a season. That certain figures have so much power, without providing any evidence.”
The previous, but also the current owner made a mess of it. “It is criminal that they can just take over a club without proof that they are capable enough to do so. A lot of people have been victims of this. For me it has a big impact, but there are also people with families who are left out in the cold …”
Fans contacted the players en masse to find out if there was any news. “Honestly? Over the last 3 to 4 weeks we heard nothing more than what was in the media. What Mr Cissé said at Sporza about communication with the playing group is just bullshit. We trained and played for almost three months without getting paid.”
Yet Dierckx feels encouraged that the story can be closed. “It’s a shame, I’m really angry. All because of a few people who think they are above the law. It’s a shame, but I’m glad I can close it. It has dragged on long enough.”
