Sporting’s defeat in Belgium on Tuesday night – the lions’ fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions – fills, as expected, the front pages of the three sports dailies in the national written press this Wednesday on newsstands.
“Everything happens to them except finding their way”, headlines the newspaper A BOLA, highlighting the “torch and white handkerchiefs at the end of the match” and remembering that “four defeats in a row only in the worst time in history” and that “João Pereira is the worst leonino coach losing four of the initial five games”.
“Leão in tatters. João Pereira has won his fourth consecutive victory and is in the hands of Varandas”, points out the newspaper Record, which also highlights the “worst record in the last 12 years”.
Finally, the newspaper O JOGO writes that “Witches? What is there, there is”, explaining that the “lions could not resist a series of misfortunes and suffered a fourth consecutive defeat”.
