The increase in retirement pensions has been made official. Here’s how much pensions will increase in 2025.
The suspense is over. After weeks of disagreement, a subject has finally been resolved: that of the increase in retirement pensions. Although various scenarios were considered, a definitive choice was finally made, despite the political context. And as expected, this is good news for the 17 million French people who receive an income paid by Carsat. But not only that.
From January 1, 2025, after many political battles, the amount will indeed increase, and much more significantly than expected. Goodbye to the two-stage increase, with a possible bonus, as was initially imagined: all seniors will receive much more than expected as soon as the new year begins. This is not an exceptional boost decided by Michel Barnier and his government, but, simply, an application of the legislation in force.
The Ministry of the Economy has in fact announced West France that basic pensions will be increased by 2.2% from January. Direct consequence of censorship, since the -rejected- draft budget provided for a smaller increase. Here is what this will represent for a retiree currently receiving 1,500 euros per month.
Thierry, retired after a full career in the private sector, receives 1,500 euros net pension: 1,000 euros are paid by Carsat and 500 euros by Agirc-Arrco. From the payment on February 7, 2025 (which corresponds to the January pension), the amount of his basic pension will increase to €1,022 because the basic pension amount will therefore have increased by 2.2%. The supplementary pension will not change.
Maryline, a former civil servant, also receives 1,500 euros every month. This former civil servant will also benefit from the same increase as Thierry, namely a basic pension which will rise to €1,022. The total of his pension will thus amount to 1522 euros. The increase in the supplementary pension for tenured civil servants (RAFP) should only be known at the start of the year.
For his part, Marc was a contract worker within the civil service. Today he also receives 1,500 euros in retirement: 1,000 euros in basic pension and 500 euros in supplementary pension, paid by Ircantec. For him, it is a double revaluation which is now recorded: first, an increase in the basic pension, which will therefore increase to 1022 euros, but also in his supplementary pension, which follows the same increase as the pension of base and will therefore increase to 511 euros. In total, this will represent an amount of 1533 euros.
