Adèle Haenel affair: five years in prison, two of which are required against Christophe Ruggia

A five-year prison sentence, including two years, was requested on Tuesday against director Christophe Ruggia, tried in for sexual assault on Adèle Haenel when she was between 12 and 14 years old.

The prosecutor requested that the firm part of this sentence be placed directly under an electronic bracelet, which means that Christophe Ruggia would not go to prison. She also required registration in the register of perpetrators of sexual offenses, a ban on contact with the victim, and an obligation to compensate her. The hearing must continue with the defense’s pleadings, and the court’s decision will then be reserved.

Five years after revelations which paved the way for the French #Metoo and shook up the world of cinema, Adèle Haenel faces director Christophe Ruggia in court, where he is tried for sexual assault on a minor. Justice took up this matter in 2019, after an investigation by the media Mediapart into the facts denounced by the actress who has since withdrawn from cinema. Adèle Haenel was 11 years old during the casting of Christophe Ruggia’s film “Les Diables” and 12 during filming in the summer of 2001.
