Storm Darragh swept across the region on Saturday (December 7) with strong winds and intense rain. Although the situation is gradually improving, difficulties persist, particularly on the rail network. This Sunday, December 8 in the morning, 700 homes were still without electricity in Gironde. Outages were reported in Corrèze in the morning.

Gradually, the situation is returning to normal throughout the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, after the passage of storm Darragh on Saturday December 8. SNCF Aquitaine indicated this Sunday, December 8 that train circulation is gradually resuming on all lines after an interruption of certain connections decided this Friday, December 6, as a preventive measure. However, delays and cancellations are still expected until late morning, or even early afternoon.
To guarantee the safety of passengers, track reconnaissance was carried out, with trains running empty, to check the absence of obstacles or fallen trees. If in Bordeaux, Dax and Arcachon, the lines, although slowed down, operate normally, the south of the region remains disrupted due to interventions still in progress.
In Limousin, traffic was generally fluid this Sunday morning, but a tree fall, which occurred on the POLT line between Limoges and Guéret, interrupted rail traffic on this axis until the beginning of the afternoon.
On the electricity network side, Enedis indicates that the situation is under control throughout New Aquitaine, despite some localized outages. This morning, 700 homes remained without electricity in the south of Gironde, particularly near La Teste-de-Buch and Mios. In Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne, isolated outages persist. Enedis mobilized 200 technicians to restore power.
In Corrèze this Sunday, a one-off outage reported at 8 a.m. deprived around 900 homes of electricity, but Enedis specifies that the outage was resolved before 10 a.m.
Yesterday was also disrupted, with up to 3,000 homes deprived of electricity in Aquitaine, a figure slightly higher than initial forecasts. The storm generated powerful gusts, particularly on the Gironde coast.
As Storm Darragh weakens, authorities are calling for caution. Tree falls could still occur due to soils weakened by bad weather. THE Pyrénées-Atlantiques remains on orange alert, the other departments of the region in yellow.
Interventions by technical teams and SNCF agents are continuing to restore a normal situation by the end of the day.
