Bollywood star Aamir Khan and British actress Emily Blunt will be honoured at the opening night of the Red Sea Film Festival this week, alongside previously announced honorees Egyptian actress Mona Zaki and American artist Viola Davis.
Khan and Blunt will also take part in the festival’s ‘In Conversation With’ series, which has already confirmed Eva Longoria, Andrew Garfield and Ranbir Kapoor as speakers.
Khan, one of India’s most successful actors and filmmakers, has starred in numerous hit films, including the 2016 wrestling drama ‘Dangal’, one of the highest-grossing films in India. Other notable credits include ‘Ghajini’, ‘3 Idiots’, and the Oscar-nominated ‘Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India’.
Blunt, known for ‘A Quiet Place’ and ‘Sicario’, was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2023-24 Oscars for her role in ‘Oppenheimer’. Her upcoming projects include ‘The Smashing Machine’, co-starring Dwayne Johnson, and an upcoming blockbuster film directed by Steven Spielberg.
Responding to the announcement, Khan took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to write, “Cinema has been my lifelong passion, and to be amidst such an inspiring group of artists from across the world is truly humbling.”
Blunt expressed similar sentiments online, saying, “I love all that this festival is doing for innovative and emerging talent in the film industry. In particular, I’m enthused by how they are empowering women in cinema and amplifying their voices.”
The fourth edition of the Red Sea Film Festival will be held in Jeddah from December 5th to the 14th.
