The President of the Republic announced the appointment “in the coming days” of a Prime Minister and a government of “general interest”.

“I will never take responsibility for the irresponsibility of others.” Emmanuel Macron defended his political choices and announced the appointment of a Prime Minister and a government “of general interest”and this “in the coming days”during a speech broadcast Thursday December 5 at 8 p.m., after the censorship of Michel Barnier's government by deputies on Wednesday.

The President of the Republic has “thanked” the Prime Minister resigned and criticized the choice of “the far right and the far left [qui] united in an anti-Republican front” to bring down the government. “I will appoint a Prime Minister in the coming days”Emmanuel Macron said, that he will be responsible “to form a government of general interest representing all the political forces of an arc of government which can participate in it or, at the very least, which undertakes not to censor it”.

The “priority” of the new Prime Minister “will be the budget”while discussions in Parliament were interrupted by the vote on the motion of censure. A special law will be tabled “before mid-December in Parliament”said the president. “This temporary law will allow, as provided for by our Constitution, the continuity of public services and the life of the country. It will apply for 2025 the choices of 2024”he clarified.

Emmanuel Macron also assured during this speech that he would fulfill his mandate “until its end”while a growing number of political leaders are calling for or discussing his resignation. “The mandate you democratically entrusted to me is a five-year mandate and I will exercise it fully”declared the Head of State while his departure is desired by 59% to 61% of French people, according to Odoxa and Elabe polls published Thursday.
