De Watergroep reports an unplanned water outage in Grimbergen, Londerzeel and Meise due to a water leak in a main pipe in Grimbergen. The water network has now been reconnected and the situation should return to normal during the day.
“Due to a leak in the main water supply pipe in Grimbergen, the water tower in Brussegem emptied,” says spokeswoman Brigitte Van Damme. “As a result, there is less water pressure or, in some parts at higher altitudes, even no water during the morning peak.”

“The water has also been stirred up in the pipe, which can cause the drinking water to have a brown color in some places. We then advise residents to let the water run for a while until it is clear again.”
Not harmful
“The cloudy water is not harmful to health. The pipeline network has now been reconnected and the leak is being stopped. We expect the situation to normalize during the day.”
De Watergroep also distributed a message in the municipalities involved to warn everyone. It is recommended not to use water during the water outage, to keep all taps closed and not to run the washing machine or other electrical appliances connected to the water mains. De Watergroep reports in a message that the problems should be resolved by 5 p.m. today, December 4. (jw)
