“The cursed tribe” lived. After three and a half months of adventure, Thibault was crowned winner of the edition of the same name. The 34-year-old Corsican farmer succeeds Léa, winner of the “Immunity Hunters” edition, also broadcast in 2024 on TF1. This Tuesday, December 3 between 10:34 p.m. and 11:32 p.m., an average of 2.43 million viewers attended the final counting of the season live – the least attended in the history of the program – or 18.6% of the public aged four years and over, 30.7% of 25-49 year olds and 30.3% of women responsible for purchasing aged under 50 (FRDA-50). A little earlier in the evening, 3.20 million viewers (15.9% of the public, 28.1% of 25-49 year olds and 28.5% of FRDA-50) were watching the event post final, fatal to Ilyesse and won by Charlotte.
Least followed season in linear history
Since the end of the summer, 14 out of 16 first episodes of “Koh-Lanta” have attracted more than 3 million viewers: only the parts broadcast on September 17 and October 1 which respectively ended with the eliminations by Michel and Emmanuelle (ambassadors episode), narrowly fell below this threshold (2.97 and 2.99 million).
Conversely, the inaugural episode of “The Cursed Tribe” – which brought the Pitogo and the Sabitang into competition, led by former winners Ugo (“Koh-Lanta: Malaysia” in 2012) and Frédéric (“ Koh-Lanta: The sacred fire” in 2023) – was the most popular for all parties and indicators combined (P1: 3.72 million and 20.8% of 4+; P2: 3.23 million and 25.9% of 4+; 45.0% on FRDA-50 on average).
Result: between August 20 and December 3, “Koh-Lanta: The Cursed Tribe”, split into two parts, united on P1 3,30 millions viewers on average and in standby audience, i.e. 16,9% individuals aged four years and over and 29,9% FRDA-50s. The second part retained 2,73 millions of viewers, which is equivalent to 20,0% ages 4 and up and 32,4% FRDA-50s. It thus becomes the least followed season in the history of the game, a little envied title which belonged to the previous season. For comparison, P1 and P2 of “Koh-Lanta: The Immunity Hunters”, season broadcast from February 13 to June 4, 2024, had attracted 3.39 million viewers (16.7% of 4+ and 30.1% of FRDA-50) then 2.92 million viewers (20.8% of the public and 35.1% of FRDA-50).
28% of the “Koh-Lanta” audience consumes the show in replay
If “Koh-Lanta: The Cursed Tribe” is therefore the least followed season on the line in the history of the program, the show is widely acclaimed in replay. On D+7, according to consolidated data communicated by TF1, 4.3 million viewers (episodes 15 and 16 excluded) watched P1 compared to 4.5 million last season (“The Immunity Hunters”). Nearly 28% of them watched it on average in replay, or 1.0 million viewers (compared to 1.1 million last season). P2, for its part, was caught by a maximum of 1.4 million viewers on D+7.
Over the entire broadcast (P1 and P2), TF1 finally specifies that “Koh-Lanta: The Immunity Hunters” is “the number one entertainment on targets“. Although in decline, the adventure game was particularly popular among young people: 37% audience share among the FRDA-50 (compared to 40.0% last season), 36.0% among of 25-49 year olds (compared to 38.0%), 34.0% of 15-24 year olds (stable) and 42.0% of 15-34 year olds (compared to 43.0%). With 48.0% of 4-14 year olds there, “Koh-Lanta” sets a record on this target since 2021 (“Koh-Lanta: The legend”).
