Inclusive recruitment: behind the scenes of the Employment and Disability Forum – Travail

Sonia, head of the services sector at the Cultura store in , can't believe it. Here it is ready with twenty applications. Enough to ensure staff reinforcements for the end-of-year celebrations. But also, why not, the position of permanent sales advisor. And, of course, paid internships throughout the year. “ I have a choice, it's great », she smiles.

Sonia participated for the first time in the Employment and Disability Forum organized by the four Travail and Cap Emploi agencies in the Orléans basin. A unique event by its very concept: a time-limited meeting, from 9 a.m. to noon, between job seekers with disabilities who have been prepared for a long time and recruiters committed to hiring them if mutually agreed.
« All companies involved have positions to fill », specifies Françoise Boursault, partnership mission manager at the Loiret France Travail Territorial Directorate. “ Return to employment is the primary objective. At the end of the Forum, there will be significant follow-up from our teams who will come back to them to make this connection a reality through hiring. »

From Parfums Christian Dior to Véolia

« The Employment and Disability Forum is the realization of our daily work for years », says Audrey Bellanger, the Cap Emploi coordinator of Loiret. This year, the Forum was held in a room made available free of charge by the municipality of Saran, in the northern suburbs of Orléans. This helping hand is the result of a long-standing and close collaboration with Stéphane Goudou, the director of the Open Paratennis du Loiret. The organizer of one of the most popular wheelchair tennis tournaments in France mobilized his network and contacts, as did Agefiph and the Mission locale de l'Orléanais, to support the organizers of the Forum.

And so on November 8, 38 companies were present in Saran. Flagship companies (Les Parfums Christian Dior, Cultura), large groups (Thales, Vinci, Véolia), have joined forces with companies committed to inclusion, such as the conditioner TPC or the recycler Burban Palettes. Without forgetting the major local players such as the Métropole and the University of Orléans and the Centre-Val de Regional Council.

On the recruitment side, the positions offered reflect the diversity of the sectors represented. They range from cloud engineer to pallet sorter/repairer, mechanic, plumber, multi-skilled agricultural agent, customer advisor, lawyer, chef and many others.

Most of the recruiters arrived with a kakemono which they unfolded behind their table to introduce themselves. The whole outlines four aisles lined with colorful banners and at nine o'clock sharp, a hubbub invades the space, announcing the arrival of a first wave of visitors.

Do more so that everyone has the same service, the same chances on the job market. » Audrey Bellanger, Cap emploi coordinator for Loiret.

Preparation workshops

The people who come to reception are known and expected. The Handi Teams from the four France Travail agencies (North, South, East and West) have been preparing them for the event for several weeks. Visuals, individual interviews, emails, SMS… candidates were briefed on the Forum’s opportunities. Some of them even took workshops to prepare for it. They were thus able to discuss essential questions with France Travail and Cap Emploi advisors, such as knowing how to talk about their disability in a job interview.

« They are prepared and reassured because they know it is a dedicated event », Explains Audrey Bellanger, the Cap emploi coordinator of Loiret. “ We are here in the area of equity: doing more so that everyone has the same service, the same chances on the job market. »

The best part is also a gradual staggering of arrivals thanks to allocated times in order to avoid long waits in front of a stand and jostling in the aisles. It is also an attentive presence of Handi Teams advisors who are present and ready to accompany a candidate to a recruiter's table if they feel the need for support.

Performance and kindness

Jérôme, 36 years old, who obtained recognition as a disabled worker (RQTH) due to “ a health concern », declares himself satisfied. In search of an engineering position in the QSE (quality, safety, environment) sector, he was able to “exchange with companies and present in complete honesty both [sa] disability situation and [ses] SKILLS “. He submitted a CV to Onet and landed a second interview with Thales. “ Companies can combine performance and kindness towards their employees, whether they have a disability or not. “, he congratulates himself.

The general manager of Nippon Shikizai France was impressed by the motivation of the six candidates sitting at his table for a position of line manager and packaging agent in the Saint-Cyr-en-Val cosmetics factory , in the Loiret. “ Often these people have to give up their job to take up a new one. I put myself in their place, it’s very complicated », explains Jérôme Durand.

« We operate in the industry with manual positions, standing or sitting, and we must adapt them to people with disabilities on a case-by-case basis. This is why we offer a trial week in close collaboration with France Travail. This allows the candidate to discover the mission. If he is interested, we provide training for several weeks until his integration. » And Jérôme Durand added: “ This morning, two people matched the profile of each of the positions to be filled. »

At the end of the Forum, the 280 job seekers present were invited to respond to a questionnaire (number of companies met, interviews carried out, applications submitted, reasons for satisfaction or dissatisfaction) which concluded with a call for comments and suggestions.

« We measure success by the number of participants and positions offered », says Françoise Boursault. “ But even more so according to the feedback we get from job seekers and companies. All proposals for improving the event will be studied by our teams. »
