A gross error, which certainly did not go unnoticed. The Dovbyk, or rather “Dobvik”, shirt worn by the Giallorossi striker in the match against Atalanta immediately went viral on social networks. “But how did Roma misprint the name of the Ukrainian striker like that?” is the question everyone has been asking themselves in the last few hours. In reality it is not Roma that prints the name on the shirts, or rather that composes it with individual letters on the spot for each player, as someone may have seen in some store. The procedure, in fact, is very different.
Serie A relies on Still Screen
For a decade now, but exclusively since 2020, Serie A has entrusted the Acatti family’s “Still Screen” company with the production of the unique font for numbers and shirts; the same company also produces patches for Serie A, the Italian Cup and the Scudetto. Therefore, slots of 100 pre-filled stickers are produced for each player, and this also happened for Dovbyk.
So how could the incredible mistake happen?
A mix of carelessness. The first from the company that produced a “faulty” sticker and sent it to Trigoria, the second from the employee who, when printing several shirts in series, applied it without realizing the grammatical error, but who therefore did not have faults of an incorrect composition of the name. The third, less serious but certainly singular, is that of the player himself (or some teammate), who did not notice the mistake. Of course, we are sure of one thing: after yesterday, Dovbyk will from now on always have the correct name printed on his shirt.
