Free unveils a “collector” Freebox for its 25th anniversary

Free is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a very collector's edition of the Freebox Ultra, the most expensive of its internet boxes.

This might crack some people up. This December 3, Iliad is unveiling a collector's edition of the Freebox Ultra, which adopts a transparent design, reminiscent of certain editions of portable consoles from the 90s and early 2000s.

Better yet: it is equipped with an RGB LED strip, allowing you to personalize it according to your tastes or your interior – for example by adding red to use the historic color of Free.

Different modes are also accessible in the Free application, in particular to deactivate the light strip, but also to launch “animations” such as a breathing, rain or wave effect. This will bring back good memories for fans of PC modding, with RGB in abundance. The box is also entitled to a slight facelift, sporting the same red as the rest of the box.

But if Free offers this collector's edition, it remains a “simple” Freebox Ultra, which is the most expensive of its internet boxes, but also the most powerful. It has symmetrical speeds of 8Gb/s, WiFi 7 and offers several access to SVOD platforms (with advertisements) including Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video, as well as a selection of Canal+ programs.

The prices reflect its premium aspect, since without SVOD (but with its OQEE television service), it will cost you 39.99 euros per month for a year, then 49.99 euros, or 49.99 euros per month for a year, then 59.99 euros per month with SVOD. If you feel like it, it's a limited edition, so don't delay.
