National Assembly: Sonko has not resigned…

The Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, chose not to sit in the National Assembly. The head of the national list of Pastef, winner of the legislative elections of November 17 with 130 deputies, preferred to remain at the head of the government. He announced his choice to Parliament this Monday, December 2, on the sidelines of the installation of the 15th (15th) legislature.

But one clarification is necessary, if we are to believe L’Observateur and Le Soleil: the president of the Patriots did not resign from his post as deputy, he just suspended his mandate. The daily newspaper of the Future Media Group (Gfm), which reports this important detail, underlines that Sonko thus retains “the possibility of taking back his seat, if necessary”. Unlike former President Macky Sall, the head of the national list of Takku-Wallu, who simply resigned from his post as deputy before being installed.

The head of government is not the only one in his camp (Pastef) to have suspended his mandate as deputy. The Secretary of State for Urban Planning and Housing, Momath Talla Ndao, took the same option as his party leader, preferring to remain in the government.

After these three resignations and suspensions of mandate, the deputies of those concerned were installed. These are Abdou Mbow (in place of Macky Sall), Ismaïla Mamadou Abdoul Wone (Sonko) and Abdoulaye Thomas Faye (Momath Talla Ndao). But if the first was installed for the duration of the legislature, the second could return their mandate to the incumbents along the way.
