“65% of strikers announced”, according to the first primary school union

School teachers “responded to the call for a strike from trade union organizations”with almost “65% of strikers announced”, Thursday, December 5, in nursery schools and elementary schools, announced Tuesday the National Unitary Union of Teachers, School Teachers and General Education Teachers of Colleges of the Unitary Trade Union Federation (SNUipp-FSU), in the majority.

Public sector agents are mobilizing on Thursday for a day of action and strike at the call of the unions, threatening to open a new social front in the midst of a political crisis, while the government is on reprieve.

“For too many years now, teachers have felt disrespected by a power that does not take the measure of the field”writes SNUipp in a press release, deploring “degraded working conditions, salaries at half mast and purchasing power which is only decreasing”.

The union, which deplores the “job elimination announcements” of the government, also denounces in its press release “the violent attack on the measures of the Minister of the Civil Service, Guillaume Kasbarian”. At the end of October, the government's announcement of a plan to fight against“absenteeism” of civil servants, which was supposed to generate 1.2 billion euros in savings, gradually strained relations between the agents' unions and Mr. Kasbarian, before leading to a breakdown in social dialogue.

“In all departments, thousands of schools will be closed on Thursday, and staff will everywhere demonstrate their anger at this government”warns the primary school union.
